Frequently asked questions about Veneers
Who are Veneers suitable for?
Veneers are generally suitable for anyone who wants an esthetic tooth correction. However, infammations and decayed teeth need to be treated beforehand. For patients who regularly bite their fingernails or suffer from teeth grinding, this can have a negative effect on the durability of the veneers. In a consultation, we will be happy to explain to you personally about treatment with Veneers and whether they are suitable for you. We will also gladly show you computer animated “before and after” photos to discuss with you the options and “your perfect smile”.
How long do Veneers last?
The ceramic veneers remain on the teeth for around 20-40 years with optimal daily oral hygiene and aftercare.
Can Veneers be applied despite existing Crowns and Bridges?
Yes, as long as the Bridges and Crowns are not damaged, the ceramic veneers can be applied.
Does discoloration of the veneers occur after a certain time?
No, usually not, as the ceramic veneers are hardly susceptible to discoloration. Your initially established white and natural smile will stay longterm. However, optimal oral hygiene at home and regular professional teeth cleaning (seeing the Dental hygienist) are of course necessary to ensure that the color is maintained. In addition, lifestyle habits can have a negative impact, for instance heavy smoking.
Does the application of Veneers cause pain?
No, the patient usually does not feel any pain during the application of Veneers. We offer local anesthesia for the slight enamel reduction of the tooth substance required for the veneers. For anxious patients, a relaxing nitrous oxide sedation can also be used on request.

Veneers
Made of ceramic, Veneers are veneers that are only about 1 millimeter thin and are very similar to natural tooth enamel. Before we can apply the veneers, they have to be made precisely and individually tailored to the patient with the help of a dental impression (digital) in our dental laboratory. In this way, we can guarantee that the veneers are precisely adapted to the tooth surface. In order for the veneer to be applied, around 0.5 to 1.5 millimeters of the patient's tooth enamel must be removed, depending on the individual tooth and bite situation. The veneers are then attached to the surface of the teeth to be corrected using a special white adhesive. Due to the stability of the material, the patient benefits from a long-lasting correction of their teeth.
Applying Veneers - Procedure
At our dental practice in Zurich, we first thoroughly clean your teeth. We then use a mock-up to show you a realistic “before and after” result of the treatment with Veneers. To ensure that the ceramic veneers ultimately fit perfectly and are permanently retained, we first reduce your tooth enamel minimally. We then take an impression of the Tooth to be treated. Because the veneers have to be made in a specialized Zurich dental laboratory, you will initially receive temporaries for a few days to protect your teeth and maintain your smile.
The temporary veneers are removed in another session. The veneers are attached to the tooth surface with the help of a special adhesive within about 20 minutes per veneer. The special adhesive not only ensures a permanent bond, it is also extremely gentle on the teeth. The veneers then sit firmly on the patient's teeth for around 20 to 40 years.
Advantages of Veneers
Veneers are attached in our dental practice with the highest precision and a gentle treatment procedure. Our veneers impress with a long-lasting aesthetic result in color and tooth shape without discolorations, long lasting for a perfect and natural smile.
Compared to dental crowns, very little enamel needs to be removed to apply Veneers (minimal invasive). To additionally whiten your teeth, we also offer power bleaching at our dental practice in Zurich. Power Bleaching is often used before applying veneers.
