Many people are unhappy with the position of their teeth, but are reluctant to have them corrected because they do not want to wear unplesant visible and uncomfortable Orthodontic braces. Aligner treatments can be useful in this case to optimize the position of the teeth comfortably and inconspicuously.
By weekly changing aligners, the teeth are gradually moved into the desired position. Expected results are precise and predictable. The aligners are almost invisible to the people around you and can be easily removed for eating and cleaning.
At our dental practice, we offer you the Spark™ aligner system, a high-quality and cost-effective alternative to Invisalign®. The custom-made aligners are fitted by your dentist in Zurich and enable teeth to be corrected with absolute precision.
Your dentists at the clinic Zahnärzte am Löwenplatz will be happy to advise you on aligner treatment and whether Spark™ aligners are the right choice for you.
Frequently asked questions about aligner treatment
How long will an aligner treatment take?
The treatment time depends on the severity of the malocclusion being treated. Depending on the need for treatment, the aligners are usually worn for a few months to 2 years. The most common treatment time is 6-9 months.
Do Orthodontic braces change my pronunciation?
Wearing the aligners may be a little unfamiliar at first. As soon as you get used to the new situation, you should not notice any change in your pronunciation.
Can I eat and drink as usual with the Spark™ aligner?
The Spark™ aligners can be removed for eating. This means you can eat and drink normally throughout the treatment. The only important thing is that you clean your Tooth and the aligners thoroughly before reinserting them.
How should I clean the aligners?
To clean the aligners, you can use a toothbrush, a little toothpaste and room temperature water. In addition to daily cleaning, you can clean the aligners once a week with a special cleaning solution. Hot water should not be used as the aligners could become deformed.
Is aligner treatment also possible with Crowns or Bridges?
Aligners can usually be used with existing crowns without any problems.
If you wear a Bridge, your dentist will first carry out a thorough examination and then discuss with you whether Aligner treatment is possible.
Do the invisible Orthodontic aligners cause pain?
Spark™ aligners are designed to be comfortable to wear and generally do not cause any pain.
Of course, the aligners have the task of moving the teeth, which can occasionally cause slight pressure. This is particularly the case during the initial treatment phase and after changing the aligners in the first 1-2 days.
The more consistently you wear your aligners, the less discomfort you should experience.
What do I need to consider after aligner treatment?
After completion of your orthodontic treatment, your aligners will be replaced with so-called retainers. These stabilize the teeth in their new position to prevent them from moving back. Another option will be to continue wearing retention aligners at night.
Depending on the individual situation, fixed titanium retainers or removable retention aligners can be used. If you receive removable retainers, you should consistently adhere to the recommended wearing time to ensure successful treatment.
Does the health insurance company cover the cost of the aligners?
The costs of aligner treatments are usually not covered by basic health insurance. If you have supplementary additional health insurance policy, the costs may be partially or fully covered.

What are aligners?
Aligners are transparent plastic splints for correcting misaligned teeth. They are also known as transparent Orthodontic braces as they are largely invisible, unlike traditional braces. This makes them the ideal choice for working adults and young people with high aesthetic demands.
Unlike Orthodontic metal braces, the aligners are not worn continuously but are replaced regularly. Each new pair of aligners moves the teeth precisely further towards the desired position. The patient can change the aligners independently, so that only a few check-ups with the dentist at the clinic are necessary.
What are the advantages of Spark™ aligners?
The aligners from Spark™ offer all the advantages of modern aligner therapy. They are virtually invisible, comfortable to wear and can be easily removed for cleaning and eating. This means there are no major restrictions in everyday life.
The Spark™ aligner was designed for efficient and painless tooth movement. The specially developed TruGEN™ material makes the aligners even more transparent and ensures particularly efficient treatment thanks to constant force transmission.
Procedure of an aligner treatment
Before your aligner treatment, a comprehensive preliminary examination takes place in our clinic in Zurich. Your dentist will take a 3D scan of your teeth so that they can plan the treatment precisely. The exact beautiful result of your tooth correction can be visualized in advance.
As soon as your aligners arrive in Zurich, the first pair of aligners will be fitted by the dentist. You will now wear the aligners for about 1 - 2 weeks and can then switch to the next pair of aligners independently. At regular check-up appointments, the clear Orthodontic braces are checked in our clinic in Zurich to ensure they fit correctly and the progress of the treatment is documented.
In addition to Spark™ aligners, we also offer aligners from the world market leader Invisalign® at our dental practice in Zurich. We will be happy to advise you on which aligner is right for you. Feel free to contact us by phone or make an appointment online at our practice - we look forward to your visit!
